Tuition and Fees

Tuition is due prior to taking classes.  Tuition is calculated by taking the number of lessons available from whenever a student will begin until the last Saturday of June and multiplied by the fee per class.  Payment may be made for the entire year by credit card, cheque, or cash.  If tuition is budgeted each month, only pre-authorized credit card payments or post-dated cheques made payable on the first of each month are accepted.  There is a $2.00 fee for budgeted payments per month.  Tuition & fees are subject to change.

To hold a class time a non-refundable deposit of $20 is required.  As well, a $10 - $15  non-refundable fee is due to cover the cost of materials.

The student agrees to pay a $5 fee for the return of any NSF cheque or returned credit card charge as well as any fees charged the school by the bank because of an NSF cheque or returned credit card charge.

A fee of $10 is charged to any student needing an accompanist at a recital.

In-home instruction will include a travel fee based on $.50 per kilometre from the teacher’s home to the home of the student.

In-Home Instruction

The student agrees to have someone responsible who is 18 years of age or older in the room where the teacher is teaching for the duration of the lessons.

Cancellation of Classes

The student agrees that should a payment not be received by the school before the 15th of the month for any reason any further lessons scheduled are cancelled. The appointment time scheduled is then open for anyone else to register for that time.

The student agrees to take a minimum of 2 months of classes.  Any class may be canceled by the student by giving 30 days written notice after the first month.

If there is a behavioural problem with a student, or anyone connected with the student in any way, the school reserves the right to cancel all classes immediately at the discretion of the school director. Any monies not earned will be returned within 30 days.

Non-payment of any fees due will result in cancellation of classes if not paid within ten (10) days of notification.

Personal Information

Personal information gathered by the School is kept in confidence.   Access or information is  only used as necessary to allow school staff to perform services for which the information was gathered or for the service which was contracted. The school also takes measures to ensure that the integrity of this information is maintained and to prevent it being lost or destroyed.

Any credit or banking information used is controlled by passwords and is input into the credit or bank processing software which is only available to your credit card company or bank.

Attendance

There are no refunds, credits, or tuition reduction for any classes that are missed by the student.  However, should the school receive advance notice, the school will try to put the student in an open spot on the teacher’s schedule.  If this is not possible and the teacher must spend extra time to provide a class, a fee will be charged for the time.

If a student is absent due to unforeseen circumstances and the only time the student may come would have resulted in an extra charge, the school will provide 2 classes free of charge during the school year.  There are no free classes in July and August during summer school.

Semi-Private and Students studying in a group setting can not be scheduled in at another time. However, to ensure consistent progression in the group, the student may pick up the homework sheet of the missed lesson in the teacher's file at the reception desk.

Make-up Lessons

If an instructor cannot attend a class, the School reserves the right to use a substitute teacher. If a substitute is not available the lesson will be made up by the regular teacher at a time that is convenient for the student and teacher.

If the School has closed for any other reason, the Student will receive a makeup lesson.

Bad Weather

It is the responsibility of the Student to ensure the school is open before attending.

Promotional Material

The School collects statements, takes photographs and/or videos of the Students and parents to use in brochures, websites, posters, advertisements and other promotional materials the School creates. The school must be notified if the school is not to use these.
