.Academic Music School Policies

Tuition and Fees:

To book a class time, there is a deposit required equal to the fee for one lesson. The fee is applied to lessons booked but is not refundable if the student does not come for any reason. We do not charge registration fees.

Tuition is due in full for the school year ending June 23, 2012, but may be paid by post-dated cheques made payable to Academic Music School on the first of each month, or by credit card payments. These are the only methods of payment accepted. The school does not accept cash or debit. In-person Individual payments for lessons each week or each month are not accepted.

There is a $2.00 fee once per month per family for processing all budget payments.

Any fees charged the school by a bank because of an NSF cheque or returned credit card will be passed on to the student.

There is a $20 fee charged for an accompanist at a recital, if an accompanist is needed.

Cancellation:

All classes are a minimum of 2 months. Any class may be canceled by giving the school 30 days written notice after the first month.

The school reserves the right to cancel any classes at the discretion of the school director for poor behaviour or non payment.. Any monies not earned on a weekly basis will be returned within 30 days.

Personal Information:

Personal information gathered by the School is kept confidential. Any credit or banking information used is controlled by passwords or stored in a locked filing cabinet.

Student Attendance:

There are no refunds, credits, or tuition reduction for any classes that are missed. Teachers are paid for their time, the same as daycare, dance lessons, or college courses – and time can not be replaced.

Make-up Classes: There are no make-up lessons if a student misses a lesson. However, if a teacher has a time open between classes, we will offer that time at no charge. If this will not work, we will offer a class at the beginning or end of the teacher's schedule, but there is a reduced charge of $15 per 30 minute session for the teacher's extra time.

Teacher Attendance:

If an instructor cannot attend a class, the School will provide a substitute teacher. If a substitute is not available, the lesson will be made up by the regular teacher at a time that is convenient for the student and teacher at no cost.

Extreme Weather or Unexpected Interruption of Classes:

If the school must cancel classes due to extreme weather or events beyond the school's control, the missed lessons will be added on to the end of the teaching year. No refunds for lessons missed due to these reasons will be given.

Injuries:

Parents, legal guardians of minor students, and adult students waive the right to any legal action for any bodily injury or property damage sustained on school property resulting from any activity conducted by the students before, during or after class time.

Photo Release:

The school may take photographs and/or videos of the students to use in brochures, web sites, posters, advertisements and other promotional materials the school creates. By attending the school permission is granted for the school to copyright such materials in its' name.

Holidays:

The school observes all Statutory Holidays, elementary school Christmas Holidays and March Break. All other days the school is open.

School Policy Changes:

School policies are subject to change. Any registration completed after a change will be subject to the new policies. Any registration completed prior to the change will use the old policies. All students will be subject to the new policies upon registration of classes in either summer or fall classes and will receive a copy of the current policies at that time.
