Academic Music School
                 Serious Study - Personal Enjoyment

Learn how to play your favourite music by ear with no
music.  Do you want to be able to listen to your
favourite songs and then just play them?  Do you want
to know how to play something you've heard a thousand
times and not have to buy the music?

Ear training is the basis for mastering the art of playing
by ear and allows you to both hear and feel the rhythm
and melody.  Notation and sheet music are not necessary.
The basic activities will teach you how to recreate what
you hear when listening to your favourite music.

This is how most Jazz and many Pop musicians play.  They are not dependent on music notation and freed from notation they can play a song a different way every time they play it.

Many classically trained musicians moan about how they can't play by ear.  Don't be one of them.  This is a learnable skill.

Mozart was so good at this that when he was only a little boy his father would take him to show off what little Mozart could do.  And it was amazing.  Someone would play Wolfgang a little tune - then the boy would play the tune by ear and then play variations and elaborate on the tune.  Mozart was simply improvising.

These are learnable skills, and just like learning to ride a bike almost anyone can do it.

Classes are available in 1/2 hour or one hour private sessions or as part of a regular lesson.
